Menstrual Cycle

The menstrual cycle is a set of processes with the purpose of preparing the woman for pregnancy. Every month an egg is released from a reproductive organ called the ovary- this is called ovulation. Hormonal changes related to ovulation prepare the uterus for pregnancy. If pregnancy doesn’t occur, the newly formed wall of the uterus breaks down and is evacuated from the body in the form of Menses (period).
